Rimfire Popper Steel Target | 1/4" AR400 Handgun & Rimfire Target

The Rimfire Popper is a scaled-down classic popper silhouette built for centerfire handgun training at an accessible price point. The 12" tall, 6" wide profile gives you a realistic competition-style target that delivers the satisfying ring of a steel hit and stays upright through continuous fire on a spring-loaded base. No walking downrange, no manual reset, just shoot.

The target is cut from 1/4" AR400 steel and mounts to a spring base that absorbs impact and keeps the plate standing session after session. At this size and price it is an easy choice for building out a multi-target handgun range, running fast pistol drills or introducing new shooters to reactive steel without a significant investment. All 1/2" mounting hardware is included. Assembly requires two tools, a 3/4" wrench or socket to tighten the bolt and a second to hold the nut. Adjustable wrenches work fine. Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances and ratings:

• Rimfire (.22 LR, .22 WMR): 10 yards minimum
• Centerfire handgun up to .45 ACP: 10 yards minimum
• Magnum handgun rounds are not recommended
• Rifle use is not recommended

Always use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the target and base before every session. Replace any component that shows cratering, severe pitting or structural damage. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health.

FAQs

What calibers is this target rated for?
Rimfire cartridges including .22 LR and .22 WMR, and centerfire handguns up to .45 ACP at 10 yards minimum. This covers the full range of common pistol cartridges including 9mm, .380 ACP, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. Magnum handgun rounds and centerfire rifle cartridges are not recommended as they exceed the impact rating of the 1/4" AR400 plate.

Why AR400 instead of AR500 on this target?
AR400 is well suited for handgun-velocity impacts within the rated caliber range. At the energy levels generated by pistol cartridges up to .45 ACP, AR400 provides reliable performance and a longer service life than mild steel at a price point that makes building out a multi-target range practical. For higher-powered cartridges, our AR500 targets are the right choice.

Does this target reset automatically?
Yes. The spring-loaded base absorbs impact and keeps the target upright after every hit. You get continuous shooting without walking downrange to reset between shots.

What tools do I need for assembly?
Two tools are required, a 3/4" wrench or socket to tighten the bolt and a second tool to hold the nut in place. Standard adjustable wrenches work fine. No power tools are required, though a power tool speeds up the process.

Does the listed height include the base?
No. The 12" height is the target plate only. The base adds additional height below the plate. Factor that in when planning your range layout or multi-target array.

Does it ship painted?
No. The target ships as bare steel so you can apply your preferred color. White and bright orange provide the best downrange visibility.

• Normal wear, pitting, cratering and target face degradation from high-volume or high-impact use are not covered

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with ShootSteel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Targets mounted to ShootSteel specifications
